UltraSound Patch Manager V1.01 - 'PatchMan'
------------------------------------------
This program is intended for use with the Advanced Gravis
UltraSound PC sound board in Windows 3.1. PatchMan makes
use of the Windows MCI calls to load WaveTable patches
into the GUS (Gravis UltraSound) memory.
Program Requirements...
- Correctly installed Gravis UltraSound card.
- Correctly installed Windows 3.1 with multimedia drivers.
- Correctly installed Windows drivers Release GUS0012
(Ultrasnd.drv dated 12/13) or newer.
- BWCC.DLL (the included Borland Dynamic Link Library) must be
in the path.
Installation Notes....
* Note - PatchMan needs the GUS0012 release UltraSound
Windows drivers or newer to work. Please download
these, install and test before running PatchMan.
Copy or unzip the PATCHMAN.ZIP files into your \ULTRASND
directory.
In Windows, Click on the group you would like PatchMan to
be installed into, then click on 'New' in the Program Manager's
'Files' menu. Click on 'Program item'. Fill in the resulting
dialog box's 'description' and 'Command Line' fields (use the
'browse' button if you like) and click OK.
More about PatchMan...
Run PatchMan and select 'Quick Tour' in the Help Index menu
for an overview of operation.
PatchMan's 88 key keyboard has an octave more keys than most
synths (it was easy to include them!) for future patches that
will use them.
PatchMan's 'Memory remaining' guage will operate correctly
no matter what memory configuration your GUS has. It is
recommended that you have the full 1 meg of RAM on the card
if you will be using your GUS for MIDI Music composition
using complex orchestration.
Future enhancements to PatchMan in the works include more
working synthesizer controlls like working pitch bend and
mod wheel, arpeggiator, note memory save and restore, and
sustain. Features also being considered are mini sequencer,
Midi IN, keyboard split, print patch info, etc., etc.
We'd love to hear what you think of PatchMan and what features
you'd like to see in a future PatchMan Shareware edition!
